How to measure ROF(rate of fire)

A simple and fairly accurate way to measure ROF of your airsoft guns.
All you need is a pc with a microphone and your gun!Download and install Audacity ,its free ,open source sound recording software.
 http://audacity.sourceforge.net
After installing Audacity make a test recording to see if its working properly(audacity and microphone). To record a sound you just have to press the red button REC.You ll see time start running and the audio track under the program controls.
To measure the ROF of your gun uyou have to make sure that your gun is "emty",no bbs in hop up chamber,no magazine on gun.To do that, fire 2,3 rounds to a safe direction to make sure gun is empty. Then press the REC button on Audacity and put the barrel of your gun close to the microphone and pull the trigger continuesly for at least 5 seconds.Let your gun to the side and stop the recording. You will see the audio track of the recording you made. Each shot will appeared as a spike on the audio track. Now to measure ROF you need to count the spikes-shots in 1 second time.If you count lets say 16 spikes in 1 second gap you ll have 16 bps.Notice that at the first second you will have lower ROF, as the motor starts turning the ROF will increase and get to the actual number after the 1 second.
The measurement is accurate and its very easy to do at home since almo0st all pc's have a build in microphone.
